My Message to Women Right Now

My goal is always to show women how beautiful they are and to remind them of their inner confidence and power so they can go out and kick ass bringing their passions to life.

I choose to do this through the art of Lived in Color and NBR Extensions. I’m passionate about the mastering skillsets in these, and delivering an amazing experience. I’m even more passionate about women being on FIRE with purpose. A woman’s hair appointment (or nails, lashes, waxing, facials, spa day —- pick yours ) is technically a CONFIDENCE Appointment - it’s about the FEELING afterwards.

The extra pep in your step. That little BOOST you get when you leave. I know that YOU KNOW the EXACT feeling I’m talking about.

So many things are coming up in the world today about Women - rights, movements, powers - you name it…it’s being talked about on a very MACRO level.

I’ve realized my part in this is smaller, it’s on the micro level. It’s about showing an individual woman that she can have the confidence she needs to THEN go and tackle whatever is important to her.

I’m in it for the confidence of women, the feeling we get after one little appointment that reminds us we are capable of BIG shit!

I feel like when I’m scrolling online - I see all of these quotes. I know you see them too about women and empowerment and I SEE things. But I want to WITNESS more women lifting each other up in my actual day to day life. What do you do personally to lift up your fellow woman?

I want to be held accountable of this in my own life and my own passion for purpose. Let’s be women of ACTION that do what we say. Let’s not just talk about it.. Let’s DO things that lift up ourselves so we may lift up other women in return.

I’m usually always pretty happy but this week I’m feeling EXTRA excitement! I’m have my NBR New Install appointment coming up this week! Cannot.even.wait! You know that feeling you get when you look at your calendar and you see ‘Hair Day’ written down - I’m at that level of excitement and anticipation. Especially since I know I’m going in for a hair TRANSFORMATION!

I’m subscribed to several different magazine publications (before you think, man this chick subscribes to a lot of things) I get magazines monthly to have in the salon! I like offering a variety of magazines from Travel to Wellness, Architecture and Beauty and of course I have to throw in some Style & Decor.

I like to have options displayed for you to choose from, so you can set your phone down and fully unplug at your appointment. It’s really easy to spend an entire hair appointment sucked into the mindless scroll, which is a slippery slope the can lead into the negative comparison game. Let’s break that cycle.

This is time for YOU. It’s the time to fill your cup [both literally - “would you like red or white wine during your appointment today” and physically restoring yourself with a little R&R]

There is something about a magazine in print that when you’re holding in your hands, feeling the paper, maybe finding a sample perfume packet tucked into the spine, and - reading about things that have NOTHING to do with people you know on Facebook — you disconnect and get lost in imagination!

I found myself reading this quick article from Domino because I just HAD to know what the Unofficial Color of Summer ‘19 was going to be - - and then doing a mini living room makeover in my mind. Like - I’m pretty certain that I NEED THAT RUG. Don’t you think?!!

My goal when you come in for your appointment is that you take a break, relax, read a magazine, enjoy a refreshment, have a snack and unplug for a moment. You need to recharge sister. When your appointment is over I promise you will LOOK beautiful and FEEL emotionally refreshed and with both of those in your favor you can’t help but feel confident and like a whole new woman!

When you sit in my chair you’re not there ‘just to get your hair touched up’ the goal of your appointment is to show you a physical transformation that is an outward reflection of your strength, your intelligence and your beauty!

Unboxing my TestTube from New Beauty

You probably know by now that I LOVE discovering new products almost as much as I love sharing beauty products with you!

Can hair analogies become life lessons?

I just learned a life lesson and I’m pretty sure it came from looking a hair pictures all day! None the less - I’m sharing it with you because I think it has value!

You know when you get fixated on something and it becomes what you WANT SO BAD!?

Like we have this picture, literally in our hand AND burned into our mind. We see this girl with THE PERFECT blonde hair and she’s a total effin’ babe, and not only do we like her hair, but her outfit, and her shoes, and why is she so fit, and can’t we just be casually strolling somewhere tropical with a drink in our hand too?!?!

Right?! Our brain can whip that up in about 30 seconds - and boom! We NEED that hair.

PAUSE - right here is where my perspective as a hairstylist - taught me a life metaphor.

We get fixated on the wrong thing.

What works over there - often times - doesn’t work over here.

Here is what I want you to know:

We have to take ‘what yo mamma gave ya’ - and use it to your advantage. In life & in hair. Fixate on that. Play to your strengths.

Instead of trying to fit yourself into some other mold - create your own mold. Don’t be pretty like her. Be pretty like you. In life & in hair.

Often times during a consultation I find myself asking to look at that same picture again - and asking my guest to share with me the VIBE or the FEELING that they see. Is it that she has bright blonde hair and a summer glow? Do you see her smiling and carefree and want a look that is a little playful and lived in?

Here is where we find what you ACTUALLY want. Here is where we customize it to work with you, not against you.

I don’t want us as women to get caught up in ‘I want to look like this picture’, but rather focus on the things that we find beautiful in ourselves already - and enhancing those to reflect a confidence from within. 

I am passionate about this. It’s more than hair&makeup.  It’s beauty - and beauty is individual and beauty comes from within.

Customer Experience: Package Pricing vs. A La Carte

So I made a couple of adjustments to my service menu and I’m so happy about it you don’t even know. The best part is, I created it with you in mind, to keep it simple and user friendly. Especially with online booking! Which was a feature I was blaming a lot of my problem on and at one point considered abandoning. 

Previously, I was offering an A La Carte Service Menu - with like a plethora of add on items.

Let me share with you HOW that menu system was ACTUALLY working out in real life.

When I was originally creating my menu I went online for inspo and looked at stylists’ menus for verbiage + layout. I thought it made most sense to offer a A La Carte menu. As a fresh newbie stylist and first time business owner - it was easy for me because it broke down and itemized all the techniques we use as stylists, to create your custom color:  Balayage or Babylights, Teasylights, Foiliage, the list goes on.

But with a little more season on my part I’ve come to learn todays #hairspo pictures are not that cut and dry to recreate. Lived In Color is so beautiful, seamless and timeless because it’s really a combination of like 5 techniques, and then you start the conversation of toning, glazing, smudging, rooting, lowlight, additional color, additional bowl, olaplex, blah blah blah hairstylist jargon —- plus a haircut.

When all you wanted was to sit down, relax, and have your hair goals magically appear on your head (you don’t really care how - besides make it pretty and keep it healthy) so you can get up and walk out feeling hot AF with a new confidence in yourself that makes you pretty sure you could conquer just about anything you damn well please. #girlpower

Then as we’d finish your appointment, I’d total all 12 A La Carte items up so they = 1 simple total package price. 

[which is how I got to the new package pricing - added up all my current a la carte items that it takes to create that effortless looking, but super technical lived in color...included a haircut (yes, you need one every time) - and put the total sticker right on the front!]

Almost too easy. Like it was right in front of my face the whole time!

Now let’s keep the celebration going!!

Now when you’re in Vagaro booking online - no more wondering ‘what exact 12 a la carte services do I need for my hair color appointment this time?’

You weren’t alone trying to navigate through it, I started to recognize a pattern in my clients DM’s not knowing all the al la carte add ons to book for their appointment because the combinations for all the a la carte options - were endless.

Which is crazy that I almost jumped ship on offering online booking thinking it was making things complicated. Because I actually LOVE how convenient it is for you. It’s 2019 and if you can pre order your Starbucks drink through an app, you sure as hell better be able to schedule a hair appointment from the comfort of your couch.  I hear ya sister!

Sometimes old ideas don’t work forever- and I’m not too proud to say that I had created a system that wasn’t operating at 100%. So I’ve worked really hard to simply it for both of us and ELIMINATE all of the hassle and let us keep the focus on creating beautiful healthy hair.

I couldn’t be happier to say that I now offer a simple Package Menu:

• Lived In Color + Haircut: Partial Service &  Full Service 

• Keratin Complex and Olaplex Treatments. 

• Natural Beaded Rows [NBR} Hair Extensions

I have been focusing all my energy in these techniques and in becoming the best artist I can be. Like, laser focus. I love to create, and am passionately focusing my craft on seamless lived in color with the volume, density and length that NBR realities are made of.

I’ve been dedicating my education to specializing in these services and I am SO thankful that the hair I love to nerd out about, is the hair you always show me as your #inspo pics.

If you are currently in my books under a la carte services - we are going to keep your up coming service scheduled the way it is, and then we’ll rebook under the package menu moving forward!
