N O V E M B E R ~ 2019

Hi. It’s been a minute hasn’t it.

Thank goodness for IG live videos, otherwise I would REALY feel like I haven’t seen you in forever!

November 2019 will most likely go down as the BEST month EVER because so many amazing & life altering moments happened! (It will also go down as a whirlwind because your girl was RUNNIN’! #praisebetocoffee) But then again, we are literally smack dab in the middle of Sagittarius Season, so what else did we think would happen?!

I remember middle of the summer when I was saying YES to all these plans, and writing them on the Calendar for November. My Man and I stood back and looked, in writing, all the things we had committed to doing - all FUN GOOD THINGS. But WHOA.  We said, “okay November is FULL!” 

There was a moment where I started to feel so much self induced guilt when I realized that even with batching & planning - I wasn’t going to be able to put up a weekly Blog post in November. Which has been important to me, to keep doing consistently. But, it was like - something has got to give, and with some self grace I pushed the pause button, so I could push the play button in another area!

{So, my goal is that you read this as one long run on sentence, because I really want you experience how November felt!} Ready? Breathe in, and - GO.

We went to Hawaii for over 10 days, which included lots of hiking and a Mountain Top Waterfall Engagement!!! (totally amazing!)  Then we took a red eye home and celebrated My Man’s birthday and then hopped IMMEDIATELY back into work. Insert five 10-12 hour days in the Studio before packing up, flying out to Laguna Beach for a week for my final Quarterly Mastermind Event - then stay for BMSCON4 as a Platform Artist, race home and sleep for 15 hours solid so we could load the car up and RoadTrip Adventure my Birthday up to Oregon for Thanksgiving with my family! 

WHOA right? It was such an AMAZING month and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it. I feel so much gratitude for all the opportunities that I was able to say “YES” to.

I feel like as I sit down and write this, snuggled up with my pups and a warm cup of coffee and Harry Potter in the background, I’m finally slowing down and processing November. (Just in time to wrap up a decade and Goal Set + Vision Plan for going into a new one in 2020) 

November taught me just how BIG my capacity is. I know I’m not alone in forgetting just how much I can do - until I actually am put to the test and have to DO IT. How many times in our lives do we actually impress our selves!? Probably a LOT if we take a minute to think of the amount you can accomplish when it’s time to #getshitdone

I haven’t tackled my 2020 goals yet - I always take the week between Christmas and New Years to step away from working IN my business, and work ON my business and decide how to make it the best it can be for my guests.

Let’s start brain storming on things that we can accomplish, and impress our own damn selves going into the next year.

Are you along for the ride ~

You know that feeling when all areas of your life get SHIFTED!?!

It can be to one side or another, it doesn’t necessarily HAVE to mean GOOD Shift/ BAD Shift. Just ‘THE SHIFT’ of change.

I’m there. Or…here. wherever it is - I’m in it!

It’s kinda like when you played that game as a kid where you put your forehead on the handle of a baseball bat and spun around really really fast while counting to 10 - only to get up completely disoriented, maybe stumbling or feeling completely nauseous before eventually starting to get your equilibrium back.

I remember as a kid feeling like it was a doozy when I was spinning around that baseball bat and hoping to make it to number 10 - - but as I look back, I always came out the other side of it laughing, happy and willing to do it all over again!!!

(Please tell me you played whatever game that was and you know what I’m talking about. - - gotta go way back to the Recess days!)

IDK -that’s the best example that I can come up with to share how things are going these past few weeks! lol

I think life is currently giving me a spin and I’m along for the ride, in hopes that it also ends with a lot of laughter and excitedly saying, “I’d do that again!”

I’m just going with it, saying YES to things that come across my path and letting life take me on a spin cycle!

Once I’m done spinning around and I’m no longer dizzy from all that’s going on - and I’m a little more settled in….You know I’ll find the time to tell you EVERYTHING!

For the moment I’m asking for some grace in my response times to: emails, texts, DMs, messages, and calls - I will get back to you! I pinky promise.

I also want to go on record saying that I’m going to be giving myself permission to take moments of rest in a time where things are moving, shifting and changing!

I see another weekend with my phone on Airplane mode coming up real soon! Sometimes it’s good to slow down the things you can control and let life take the reigns on the rest!

I’m subscribed to several different magazine publications (before you think, man this chick subscribes to a lot of things) I get magazines monthly to have in the salon! I like offering a variety of magazines from Travel to Wellness, Architecture and Beauty and of course I have to throw in some Style & Decor.

I like to have options displayed for you to choose from, so you can set your phone down and fully unplug at your appointment. It’s really easy to spend an entire hair appointment sucked into the mindless scroll, which is a slippery slope the can lead into the negative comparison game. Let’s break that cycle.

This is time for YOU. It’s the time to fill your cup [both literally - “would you like red or white wine during your appointment today” and physically restoring yourself with a little R&R]

There is something about a magazine in print that when you’re holding in your hands, feeling the paper, maybe finding a sample perfume packet tucked into the spine, and - reading about things that have NOTHING to do with people you know on Facebook — you disconnect and get lost in imagination!

I found myself reading this quick article from Domino because I just HAD to know what the Unofficial Color of Summer ‘19 was going to be - - and then doing a mini living room makeover in my mind. Like - I’m pretty certain that I NEED THAT RUG. Don’t you think?!!

My goal when you come in for your appointment is that you take a break, relax, read a magazine, enjoy a refreshment, have a snack and unplug for a moment. You need to recharge sister. When your appointment is over I promise you will LOOK beautiful and FEEL emotionally refreshed and with both of those in your favor you can’t help but feel confident and like a whole new woman!

When you sit in my chair you’re not there ‘just to get your hair touched up’ the goal of your appointment is to show you a physical transformation that is an outward reflection of your strength, your intelligence and your beauty!

Customer Experience: Package Pricing vs. A La Carte

So I made a couple of adjustments to my service menu and I’m so happy about it you don’t even know. The best part is, I created it with you in mind, to keep it simple and user friendly. Especially with online booking! Which was a feature I was blaming a lot of my problem on and at one point considered abandoning. 

Previously, I was offering an A La Carte Service Menu - with like a plethora of add on items.

Let me share with you HOW that menu system was ACTUALLY working out in real life.

When I was originally creating my menu I went online for inspo and looked at stylists’ menus for verbiage + layout. I thought it made most sense to offer a A La Carte menu. As a fresh newbie stylist and first time business owner - it was easy for me because it broke down and itemized all the techniques we use as stylists, to create your custom color:  Balayage or Babylights, Teasylights, Foiliage, the list goes on.

But with a little more season on my part I’ve come to learn todays #hairspo pictures are not that cut and dry to recreate. Lived In Color is so beautiful, seamless and timeless because it’s really a combination of like 5 techniques, and then you start the conversation of toning, glazing, smudging, rooting, lowlight, additional color, additional bowl, olaplex, blah blah blah hairstylist jargon —- plus a haircut.

When all you wanted was to sit down, relax, and have your hair goals magically appear on your head (you don’t really care how - besides make it pretty and keep it healthy) so you can get up and walk out feeling hot AF with a new confidence in yourself that makes you pretty sure you could conquer just about anything you damn well please. #girlpower

Then as we’d finish your appointment, I’d total all 12 A La Carte items up so they = 1 simple total package price. 

[which is how I got to the new package pricing - added up all my current a la carte items that it takes to create that effortless looking, but super technical lived in color...included a haircut (yes, you need one every time) - and put the total sticker right on the front!]

Almost too easy. Like it was right in front of my face the whole time!

Now let’s keep the celebration going!!

Now when you’re in Vagaro booking online - no more wondering ‘what exact 12 a la carte services do I need for my hair color appointment this time?’

You weren’t alone trying to navigate through it, I started to recognize a pattern in my clients DM’s not knowing all the al la carte add ons to book for their appointment because the combinations for all the a la carte options - were endless.

Which is crazy that I almost jumped ship on offering online booking thinking it was making things complicated. Because I actually LOVE how convenient it is for you. It’s 2019 and if you can pre order your Starbucks drink through an app, you sure as hell better be able to schedule a hair appointment from the comfort of your couch.  I hear ya sister!

Sometimes old ideas don’t work forever- and I’m not too proud to say that I had created a system that wasn’t operating at 100%. So I’ve worked really hard to simply it for both of us and ELIMINATE all of the hassle and let us keep the focus on creating beautiful healthy hair.

I couldn’t be happier to say that I now offer a simple Package Menu:

• Keratin Complex and Olaplex Treatments. 

• Natural Beaded Rows [NBR} Hair Extensions

I have been focusing all my energy in these techniques and in becoming the best artist I can be. Like, laser focus. I love to create, and am passionately focusing my craft on seamless lived in color with the volume, density and length that NBR realities are made of.

I’ve been dedicating my education to specializing in these services and I am SO thankful that the hair I love to nerd out about, is the hair you always show me as your #inspo pics.

If you are currently in my books under a la carte services - we are going to keep your up coming service scheduled the way it is, and then we’ll rebook under the package menu moving forward!

I think its such a beautiful thing when we, as women, feel strong, beautiful and confident. We feel at home in our beauty, and assured in our strength. That’s so powerful! 

That feeling is contagious and when we are around others who exude this - we catch it too! 

Now, I’m not going to pretend that I feel this way 365 days out of the year! These feelings defiantly have their peaks and valleys, and I can relate with each of my girlfriends when they say they are having an “off” week, sometimes month..

We’ve all been there before, and we may end up there again. However, when I start to notice this pattern in myself - I know it’s time for some self care & pampering and a shift in mindset.

Sometimes that looks like an at home face mask with a hot bath and reading a book until my fingertips look like prunes. Other times I may go the salon where I sit down and enjoy a shampoo+blowdry+style and ooo and ahhh over the luxury haircare products. (This is typically followed by a trip through Target with a Starbucks in my hand looking at all the cute home decor) Occasionally it looks like a full on Spa Day with my besties getting spa treatments and eating sushi + drinking champagne.

What it really comes down to, is taking a little time to remind ourselves that we are important. It’s easy to get swept up with our day to day lives and to do lists and put ourselves on the back burner. Reading your reviews reaffirmed this for me and reminded me that when guests are choosing Rose Golde, they are choosing to be reinspired by their beauty and empowered by their strength! …and that my friends, is contagious!

So thank you for this reminder, I love how this simple product giveaway turned into a moment of reflection & realization. It was such a take away moment for me to remember we are all in this together!
